A 35-year-old Smiths Falls resident faces a long list of charges following what provincial police described as an “apparent case of road rage.”
In a release, police said Lanark County OPP officers were called at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday after a vehicle was reported to be travelling near Smiths Falls at high speed, in a dangerous manner.
The incident had led to a confrontation and assault outside a home in Montague Township.

There were no serious injuries reported, and the suspect had left the scene when OPP arrived.
Police said the suspect’s vehicle was located a short time later in a ditch along Highway 43.
A man was arrested after initially fleeing from officers on foot.
Police said damage was later done to a holding cell at the Lanark OPP detachment.
OPP said the suspect was charged with:
- Assault causing bodily harm
- Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily
- Resisting a peace officer
- Dangerous operation of a vehicle
- Driving with no licence
- Driving without two licence plates
- Licence plate improperly displayed
- Stunt driving
- Having improper tires
- Mischief
The accused was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Wednesday.
