Gatineau police staged an early morning raid Thursday in the parking lot of the Robert Guertin Centre to execute five search warrants for drugs in trailers on site.

Surete du Quebec tactical officers accompanied the Gatineau police.

The operation began at about 6:30 a.m.

In a brief message, police said the five trailers were among 13 trailers that remain on the site despite an order to evacuate.

The Robert Guertin Arena parking lot become a homeless encampment in recent months.

The city of Gatineau moved the homeless tents in October to St-Redempteur Park about 100 meters away.
