Ottawa man charged with attempted murder over Orléans attack

Ottawa police have charged Trevor Low with four counts of attempted murder stemming from an incident outside a fast food restaurant near Place d’Orléans on Nov. 15, they announced Wednesday.

Low, 33, an Ottawa resident, was also charged with a multitude of other offences, including five counts of aggravated assault, a dozen counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, seven counts of mischief for damaging property, 20 counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and one count each for assaulting a police officer and obstructing police.

During the incident, an Ottawa Police Service officer discharged their firearm several times, prompting an investigation by the Special Investigations Unit, Ontario’s police watchdog agency.

On Nov. 15, at approximately 11:15 p.m., police received calls reporting that a man was assaulting people and damaging cars outside a Wendy’s restaurant near St. Joseph Blvd. and Place d’Orléans Drive.

Five people were injured, some seriously, but the injuries were later deemed to be non-life-threatening.

The suspect was shot multiple times by police, and two stun guns were also used. He was taken to hospital was in stable condition as of Nov. 27, a police news release said.
