Toronto driver charged in Montague Township crash

Charges have been laid following a collision in Montague Township.

Members of the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Smiths Falls Police Service, Lanark County Paramedics and Montague Township Fire Department responded to the crash shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, Apr. 27.

According to the OPP, a car had left Roger Stevens Drive, just west of Rosedale Road, before striking a hydro pole and flipping over.

The driver was transported to an Ottawa hospital with serious injuries.

Following testing both on scene and at the hospital, the driver, Shakhboz Yuldashev, 37, of Toronto was arrested.

Yuldashev faces the following charges:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused was released from police custody and is due in court in Perth on June 3, 2024.
