A woman and three teenagers were rescued from a fire at a residence just north of the Ottawa International Airport Tuesday night.

Ottawa Fire Services said in a press release that a 911 caller reported an odour of natural gas at a townhome on the 100 block of Twyford Road at about 8:30 p.m.
Firefighters arriving at the scene were met with heavy black smoke and a “working fire” call was issued to summon more staff and equipment to the scene.

Firefighters advanced hose line into the home and fire teams began searching for any occupants.
A total of four residents were rescued. Ottawa Paramedics said one woman was taken to hospital in serious condition, two teenagers to hospital in stable condition and a third teenager was treated at the scene.
The fire was declared under control at about 9:20 p.m.
OFS said the fire was extinguished and contained to where it began. Firefighters also worked to protect nearby buildings threatened by the blaze.
An OC Transpo bus was on the scene to provide shelter for the residents.
Ottawa fire victim services was also at the scene and a fire investigator was dispatched to determine the cause of the fire.
