Numerous charges were laid after police seized nearly $29,000 of illegal psilocybin (magic mushroom) products in a township near Renfrew.
On Dec. 3, officers from the street crime unit, regional support team and provincial asset forfeiture unit executed a search warrant at a business on River Road in the McNab/Braeside Township. Two people were arrested at the scene as police combed through the large amounts of drugs.
In the investigation, officers found more than 1,200 grams of dried and packaged psilocybin and a variety of products such as gummies, chocolate, tea bags and capsules. Police seized over $1,200 in cash, packaging material, debt lists and cell phones.
As a result, the two arrested are facing a number of charges.
Benjamin Dagg, 26, of McNab/Braeside was charged with:
- Traffic in a Schedule 3 substance – two counts
- Possession of a Schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime-under $5,000 – three counts
Jenna Lahaie, 38, of Arnprior has been charged with:
- Traffic in a Schedule 3 substance
- Possession of a Schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime-under $5,000 – two counts
Both were released from custody and have a date in the court of justice in Pembroke.
