Multiple 911 calls for a fire in a single-family home in Manotick had crews on scene fast late Wednesday morning.
When they arrived, they saw an attached garage to a bungalow engulfed in flames. The home sits in the 5000 block of McLean Crescent in the south Ottawa community. Using a fast-attack method, firefighters brought a hose into the structure.
Two elderly occupants of the home were able to leave with the help of a neighbour. Officials did search the home again but found no one.
By 11:58 a.m., the blaze was under control, and hot spots were checked in the attic above the garage and inside the walls. Heavy smoke was wafted out of the home with fans, but firefighters did say the two older adults would be displaced.
