Man charged after multiple hit-and-runs on Highway 401

A 29-year-old man was charged with seven counts after numerous hit-and-runs along Highway 401 on Dec. 13.

Police said the man hit several vehicles in the westbound lanes, starting in the Leeds County area and continuing to Kingston and Napanee areas. The man refused to stop for police. No injuries have been reported.

The man was arrested when the vehicle entered a parking lot off of Shannonville Road. Numerous OPP units were involved, including a helicopter and the emergency response team.

The man was charged with dangerous driving (two counts), careless driving, failure to stop after an accident (four counts), flight from a peace office and stunt driving.

He is scheduled to appearing court on Jan. 24, 2025 in Brockville and Feb. 11, 2025 in Napanee.
