Ottawa was blanketed under thick fog on Dec. 29, with Environment Canada issuing an advisory and warning of near-zero visibility.
“Patchy dense fog will persist … possibly into this afternoon,” the weather agency said Sunday morning. “Some surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery as temperatures are below zero. Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero.”
The forecast calls for a 40 per cent chance of showers early in the afternoon, with a risk of freezing rain.
The fog is expected to lift as rainclouds move in. About 10-15 mm of rain is expected.
Temperatures are expected to be above 0 degrees into the New Year, with a high of 6 C forecast for Sunday and highs of 10 C and 4 C For Monday and Tuesday respectively.
Forecasts are expected to hover above the freezing mark as we ring in 2025.
