More snow in the forecast for Ottawa as 7.4 km of the Rideau Canal Skateway opens for skating

Ottawa could see more snow today, one day after six centimetres of snow blanketed the capital.

Environment Canada’s forecast calls for a mainly cloudy day with a 40 per cent chance of flurries this morning. Flurries beginning near noon. High -4 C, with the wind chill making it feel like -14.

Flurries ending late this evening then partly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of flurries. Low -11 C, with the wind chill making it feel like -16 overnight.

A mix of sun and cloud on Wednesday. High -7 C.

Thursday will be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of flurries. High -5 C.

The outlook for Friday calls for cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of flurries. High 0 C.

Saturday will be cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of flurries. High -1 C.

The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of -6 C and a low of -16 C.

Rideau Canal Skateway

You will be able to go for a longer skate on the Rideau Canal Skateway, starting today.

The National Capital Commission is opening another section of the world’s largest skating rink, with 7.4 km open between Laurier Avenue and the Carleton Library, including Dow’s Lake.

The only section that remains closed is the northern stretch of the skateway from Laurier Avenue to the National Arts Centre.
