Snow squall warning Thursday around Belleville

The Belleville area is being hit by waves of sudden blowing snow Thursday morning and afternoon.

Environment Canada has a snow squall warning for local communities such as Belleville, Trenton and Stirling, calling for seven to 14 centimetres of snow by evening.

It asks drivers to be ready to adapt if conditions rapidly change on them.

School bus agencies for the area have not announced any widespread changes.

Off-and-on snow overnight picked back up around 4 a.m. at the CFB Trenton weather station, where gusts are expected to peak around 50 kilometres an hour Thursday.

Prince Edward County, which had its own snow squall warning earlier this week, is spared.

The region is emerging from a cold snap Thursday, with seasonal highs around –5 C in Trenton forecast the next three days. Saturday night’s low is expected to be around the same temperature.
