OPP, two police canine units track down man who ran from collision

Over 10 charges were laid to one man who ran from a vehicle crash that sent two people to hospital north of Kingston.

The collision happened just after 8:00 p.m. on Thursday on Road 38 in South Frontenac Township. Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the scene where two people from one car were sent to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle ran from the area, officers said in a press release. OPP emergency response team, OPP canine unit and dogs and officers from Kingston Police, set out to find the man.

Shortly later he was found and arrested.

As a result Andrew Seguin, 34, from Loyalist Township was charged with:

  • Dangerous operation causing bodily harm
  • Operation while prohibited – five counts
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance – psilocybin
  • Fail to stop at an accident resulting in bodily harm
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Fail to remain
  • Fail to report accident
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Fail to properly wear seatbelt

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing at a court in Kingston. Seguin’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded.
