1 teen dead, 5 injured in rollover near Sharbot Lake

A teenager was killed and five more were injured in a single-vehicle rollover near Sharbot Lake, according to Ontario Provincial Police.

The collision happened Thursday just after noon on Burke Settlement Road, according to Const. Rob Martell of the Frontenac OPP. 

OPP said Friday the occupants of the vehicle ranged in age from 15 to 17. The teen who died was 16 and was a passenger, police said. They haven’t identified the victim.

Two other passengers were seriously injured, police said.

The investigation continues, but police said Friday the victims were in an SUV that left the road, rolled into a ditch and hit a tree.

The scene is north of Sharbot Lake in the Township of Central Frontenac, about 70 kilometres north of Kingston and 105 kilometres southwest of Ottawa.
