The second event on the calendar for 2024 Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend was the five-kilometre race.
Leading the charge for men was Jonathan Rioux of Windsor, Ont., with his time of 15 minutes 17 seconds, which was 28 seconds faster than runner-up Sebastian Saville of Ottawa.

Victoria’s Elise Coates raced to victory among women with her time of 17:03. Second place went to Mathilde Collard of Quebec City with a clocking of 18:06.
Among non-binary racers, Denis Giguère of Val-d’Or, Que., placed first in 23:44, with Ottawa’s Lauren Boucher crossing the line next in 28:01.
Also of note, Kanata’s Sindy Hooper, who during a decade-long battle with pancreatic cancer has helped raise more than $500,000 for cancer research at The Ottawa Hospital, completed the 5K course in 57:32.
