One of Quebec’s most wanted criminals arrested in Ottawa area

A joint-police investigation has led to the arrest of one of Quebec’s most wanted criminals.

Omar Abukar, 31, had been wanted since 2022 by the Integrated Anti-Pimping Squad (EILP) following a breach of release conditions.

On Wednesday, June 5, the squad arrested Abukar in the Ottawa region and he faces the following charges:

  • Pimping a person under 18
  • Benefit from the provision of sexual services to a person under 18
  • Trafficking in a person under 18
  • Advertising of sexual services
  • Breach of release order

The suspect appeared in court in Gatineau on June 5.

Coordinated by the Sureté du Québec, the Integrated Anti-Pimping Squad is made up of members of the Police Service of the City of Montreal, the Quebec City Police Service, the Laval Police Service, the Service police of the agglomeration of Longueuil, the Police Department of the City of Gatineau and the Gendarmerie Royal of Canada.
