The body of a 62-year-old American man was recovered from Muskrat Lake, just over 100 km northwest of Ottawa, on Sunday.

The Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the suspected drowning.

Just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday, police were contacted about a boater who had fallen overboard on the lake, which is near Cobden, had gone under water and had not resurfaced. Upper Ottawa Valley OPP officers, Whitewater Region Fire and Renfrew County Ambulance responded, and the body of a resident of Scranton, Pa., was found soon after.

A postmortem examination will be conducted, police said in a news release Monday, but no other information was made available.
