One person is dead after a freight train struck a pickup truck just east of Lancaster, Ont., a small town along the St. Lawrence River.
The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say it happened shortly before 2 p.m. on Monday, June 24, in the town about 90 minutes southeast of Ottawa.
The South Glengarry Fire Service and Cornwall-SD&G Paramedics also responded to the scene on a private laneway along Old Highway 2.
A 33-year-old man from Williamstown, Ont., who had been alone in the pickup truck, was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no injuries to members of the train crew.
The investigation is continuing.
