OPP officers save woman who jumped into the Mississippi

Several officers with the Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are being praised for entering the fast-flowing Mississippi River in Carleton Place, Ont. to save a young woman.

OPP says shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, a young person in crisis jumped into the river near Maple Lane. Three officers entered the river to bring the young woman to safety.

No injuries were reported.

“Thank you to these officers who, without hesitation, bravely took action to ensure this person’s safety,” says Inspector Kerlous Tawdrous, Lanark Detachment Commander

Lanark County paramedics brought the woman to hospital.
