Two motorcyclists die in west end crash

Two motorcyclists are dead after their bikes collided on Highway 417, near the Highway 416 junction in Ottawa’s west end.

Provincial police said the crash occurred just before midnight.

A 27-year-old driver from Ottawa was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Ottawa paramedics transported the other driver, a 24-year-old man, to a hospital but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Traffic was blocked for several hours following the crash but roads were reopened Saturday morning.

The investigation continues with assistance from technical collision investigators and reconstructionist.
