A 20-year-old Ottawa woman has been charged after a series of antisemitic symbols and hateful messages were spray-painted in various locations in the city.

The spray-painting incidents took place between March 16 and March 24 this year, Ottawa police said in a news release Monday.

The Hate and Bias Crime Unit charged the woman with four counts of mischief to property. She had been scheduled to appear in court Monday.

“We continue to encourage anyone who witnesses or experiences such incidents to report them to police,” the release stated. “Reporting hate-motivated incidents is an important step in stopping cycles of hatred.”
