Lanark County OPP recover $150K in stolen property; one charged

A man from Quebec is facing charges after the recovery of several vehicles, trailers, and lawn mowers in Lanark Highlands.

The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant at a home on McDonalds Corners Road on Tuesday, Aug. 13, with help from the East Region Community Street Crime Unit and OPP Emergency Response Team.

While the OPP is still reviewing the items seized, the stolen property is believed to be valued at well over $150,000 and includes three vehicles, two trailers, two Kubota lawn mowers, and multiple tools.

As a result of the investigation, Claude Gobeil, 38, of Cantley, faces the following charges:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime (seven counts)
  • Failure to comply with an undertaking

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Perth on Friday, Aug. 16.

The investigation is continuing.
