Ottawa police say an investigation has deemed the death of a person found in the Rideau Canal to be not suspicious.
Police were called to the 100 block of Rideau Street shortly before 5 a.m. Monday after a dead person was found in the water.
Ottawa police central criminal investigations section were assigned to the case.
Police said Wednesday the victim’s next of kin have been notified.
Police have not released the victim’s identity.
“The incident is (now) being investigated by the Office of the Chief Coroner, per their practice,” a police spokesoperson said Wednesday.
