A kitchen fire in Findlay Creek was brought under control before it could spread yesterday afternoon.
A person called 9-1-1 shortly after 3 p.m. to report smoke coming from the window of their neighbours home and said an alarm could be heard going off.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to the two-story townhouse in the 100 block of Spartina Street and confirmed smoke on the first floor.
Firefighters located fire on the stovetop and extinguished it before it could spread, declaring the fire under control five minutes after arriving on scene.
Firefighters disconnected the oven, which was brought outside, and it was confirmed there was no extension into the walls of the home.

Two full searches of the structure were completed, and no occupants were found inside.
There are no injuries reported.
