Ottawa firefighters rescue two people following single-vehicle crash into tree

Two people were pulled from a cube van following a collision in Overbrook yesterday.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to the intersection of Donald Street and Marguerite Avenue around 4:35 p.m.

The driver of a cube van has crashed into a tree in the area.

Firefighters arrived and confirmed that both the driver and the passenger were trapped inside the vehicle.

Firefighters stabilized the vehicle and using specialized tools to safely extricate the trapped occupants by 5 p.m.

The city was called to inspect the tree, which was uprooted in the crash, and had become a hazard.  

The scene was cleared by 5:13 p.m. and handed into the control of the Ottawa Police Service (OPS).
