Ottawa firefighters doused an early morning bedroom fire in Beacon Hill South home before it could spread to the rest of the home.
At 12:53 a.m., Ottawa Fire Services received a 911 call, reporting a fire in a townhouse on Jasmine Crescent. The caller, an occupant of the home, reported smoke, flames and worsening conditions.
When they arrived, firefigthers found a first floor bedroom fully engulfed in flames. They initiated a quick attack on the fire while also launching a search of the home for any trapped or injured occupants. No one was found inside.
Firefighters had the blaze under control by 1:35 a.m.
They checked inside the walls to confirm the fire had not moved into them, used high pressurized fans to ventilate smoke, and set up a watch to ensure the fire did not flare up again. An investigator has been sent to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
No one was hurt in the incident.
