Construction is starting on Smyth Road to improve cycling safety and connectivity on Sept. 23, resulting in some traffic impacts.
The City of Ottawa said that lane reductions, closures and detours can be expected from now until late fall when the project is complete.
The construction will be on Smyth Road from Riverside Drive to the east of the Ottawa Hospital Riverside Campus intersection.
Delays can be expected for vehicles and OC Transpo buses travelling through the construction zone, the city said.
The work will also modify the Riverside Drive on and off ramps at Smyth Road.
Due to the construction, lane closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and after 6 p.m. can be expected in the area. The on/off ramps will also be closed intermittently overnight and on weekends to complete the work.
The press release from the city notes that access to the Ottawa Hospital Riverside Campus will be maintained at all times via the Riverside Drive entrance. An alternate exit/entrance to Riverside Drive during the ramp closures are via Pleasant Park Road or Hospital Link Road.
