Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision between a school bus and another vehicle that injured three school children and their bus driver.
The collision happened Monday afternoon shortly before 4:15 p.m., on Route 400 at MacDonald Road in Russell, Ont.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that a school bus attempted to enter the highway and collided with an eastbound transport truck on Route 400,” Russell County OPP said in a statement.
Along with the driver of the school bus, there were three children on board. All four were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Paramedics brought the three children to Ottawa’s children’s hospital shortly after the collision, according to a statement released by CHEO. The hospital declared a code orange, “which is called to bring together resources to respond to a potential disaster or mass casualty incident.”
The code orange was lifted as of 7:05 p.m. Monday, CHEO said in a statement. The three children continue to receive medical care at the hospital.
