OPP responded to reports of an upside down ATV vehicle Saturday morning to find the result of a single-vehicle collision in the Gananoque River, near the intersection of Turn Around Rd. and Maple Grove Rd.
The Leeds County Detachment of the OPP were assisted by the Leeds and Thousand Islands Fire Department and the Leeds and Grenville Paramedics in locating the lifeless driver of the vehicle, identified as a local 64-year old male. The man’s identity will not be released.
The time and cause of the collision are still unknown. The OPP is being assisted by the OPP Collision Reconstructionists, the Technical Traffic Collision Investigators, the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Office of Forensic Pathology.
The intersection of Turn Around Rd. and Maple Grove Rd. remains closed during the ongoing investigation.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have information to come forward.
