Burn victim in life-threatening condition as police investigate ‘serious assault’

A burn victim was sent to hospital in life-threatening condition early Monday after an incident in downtown Ottawa.

Officers were called to the 100 block of Queen Street just after 6 a.m., according an Ottawa Police Service post on X about a “serious assault investigation.”

No other details were released and police said the circumstances are under investigation.

Part of the sidewalk in front of the Parliament LRT station was still taped off as of 6 p.m., though access to the station remained open.

Ottawa police cruisers and both municipal and provincial fire vehicles remained on site as of early Monday evening.

Police have asked anyone with information to call the Central Criminal Investigations Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5166.
