G2 driver faces multiple charges after speeding in HOV lane

An Ottawa man was on his way to work this morning when he was caught going well above the speed limit.

According to police, he was caught travelling 161 km/h on Highway 417 during the morning rush hour. The G2 driver was also in the HOV lane, alone.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Ottawa detachment media relations officer, Michael Fathi said the driver was charged with stunt driving. This results in a minimum $2,000 fine, six demerit points and a one-year driving prohibition upon conviction.

He was also charged with fail to surrender insurance card, fail to display two plates, improper tires, no mudguards and improper plate light.
