It took Ottawa firefighters more than an hour to bring a blaze under control at a single-family home on Bayview Drive on Tuesday afternoon.
Ottawa Fire Services took a 911 call at 12:15 p.m., with the caller reporting that black smoke was coming from the roof of the house located in the 800 block of Bayview. After arriving on the scene, it was confirmed that flames were coming from the building and additional resources were called in at 12:24.

A water shuttle system was used to bring in water because the area does not have hydrants. At 1:46, the fire was declared under control.
The Ottawa Paramedic Service reported it also attended the scene, but there were no injuries.
A fire service investigator was sent to the location to determine the cause and origin.
