A multi-vehicle collision between Kingston and Napanee on Highway 401 Sunday evening left several people injured. Part of the westbound 401 remains closed.

The collision is under investigation, but it happened around 9:30 p.m. and involved a motorcycle and two larger vehicles, said the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in a statement Monday.

Five people were transported to the hospital, according to police: two with serious, life-threatening injuries, including the motorcycle driver, and three with non-life-threatening injuries.

The westbound highway is closed at the Camden East Road or County Road 4 interchange and is expected to reopen later Monday, OPP said.

The crash happened in Loyalist Township, about 30 kilometres northwest of downtown Kingston and 155 kilometres from downtown Ottawa.
