Human remains found after Eganville fire

The remains were found after an early Friday morning residential fire in the town west of Ottawa, provincial police say.

One person’s remains have been found after an early Friday morning fire in Eganville, Ont., provincial police say.

OPP were called to a home on John Street that was engulfed in flames at around 5:15 a.m. on Aug. 23, according to a Saturday news release.

The remains have not yet been identified, OPP said.

As of late Saturday afternoon, John Street was still blocked off and investigators remained on scene.

The fire is not considered suspicious, police said.

Eganville is approximately 130 kilometres west of downtown Ottawa.
