Hundreds of charges after OPP seize guns, drugs in Tyendinaga, Ont., raid

Four people face more than 500 charges after a Saturday police raid at a home in Tyendinaga, Ont., uncovered drugs and dozens of guns, according to police.

Ontario Provincial Police say nearly 100 firearms, including both handguns and long guns, were found — some of which had been reported stolen and several of which were loaded.

Photos shared by police show rows of rifles, shotguns and pistols spread out on a concrete floor and across what appears to be an old mattress. There’s also an image showing a revolver in a vehicle’s glove compartment.

Roughly 200 grams of suspected cocaine, more than a kilogram of suspected methamphetamine and approximately 2,000 grams of suspected MDMA were also seized, OPP stated in a media release.

Two rows of handguns and revolvers are shown lying on top of what appears to be an old mattress.

Heroin, psilocybin and a large quantity of pills were uncovered as well, the release adds, along with ammunition, Canadian cash and items “consistent with drug trafficking.”

The arrests came after officers with two area detachments and three OPP teams, including the canine unit and East Region Tactics and Rescue unit, searched a Thrasher Road address in Tyendinaga, which is east of Belleville.

Police say a total of 508 criminal charges were laid, including 100 counts of possession of a firearm without a licence, 68 counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and four counts each for possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and other drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
