Man charged with 2nd-degree murder in mother’s death

A 25-year-old Ottawa man has been charged with second-degree murder for the death of his 57-year-old mother, whose body was found in a home on Woodroffe Avenue earlier this week.

A 25-year-old Ottawa man has been arrested and charged for the death of a woman whose body was found in a home on Woodroffe Avenue earlier this week.

Tyler Lambert is facing a second-degree murder charge for the death of 57-year-old Deborah Owen, Ottawa police said in a news release Friday.

Police sources have told CBC the victim and suspect are mother and son.

Officers found Owen’s body in the home on Woodroffe Avenue between Baseline Road and Iris Street shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday. 

On Thursday, police announced her death was considered a homicide.
