Man drowns in St. Lawrence River at Brockville waterfront

A 39-year-old man has died after being pulled from St. Lawrence River in a waterfront park in Brockville, Ont. early Monday morning.

Police responded to calls of a person in distress in the water early Monday morning

A 39-year-old man has died in a drowning incident in a park in Brockville, Ont., early Monday morning. 

First responders received a call about a person in distress in the St. Lawrence River near Centeen Park around 6:00 a.m., Brockville police said in an email. The park is along the city’s waterfront. 

The man was pulled from the water and taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. 

Police said the man was not operating a boat or any other type of vessel at the time of his death.

An investigation is ongoing, and police said foul play is not suspected at this time.
