More charges laid in death of Quinte West teen

On Monday, OPP announced they’ve further charged all five suspects with conspiracy to commit murder and robbery with a weapon. Two are also charged with obstructing police.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid more charges against five people accused of killing a Quinte West teen found dead in a motel room in Trenton, Ont., earlier this year.

Officers were conducting a wellness check at the motel on Dundas Street E. on the morning of Jan. 7 when they found someone dead inside the building.

The victim was later identified as Kiean Stoddard, 17. The homicide shook those who live in the area.

The five charged with first-degree murder are:

  • Morgan Belyea, 22, from Belleville, Ont.
  • Steven Courneyea, 26, from Belleville.
  • Harold Russell, 43, from Quinte West.
  • Aaron Ryan, 27, from Quinte West.
  • Khadijah Courneyea, 29, of Quinte West. 

On Monday, OPP announced they’ve further charged all five with conspiracy to commit murder and robbery with a weapon. Khadijah Courneyea and Ryan are also charged with obstructing police.

Police continue to investigate, along with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
