Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner Thomas Carrique and a top investigator will detail the “staggering results” of an investigation known as “Project Aquatic,” which involved 27 police services across the province.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are set to detail what the service is calling the “staggering results” of a series of investigations into online child sexual abuse and exploitation.

OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique and several top investigators are holding a news conference that’s scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. ET Wednesday.

The multi-jurisdictional investigations, collectively called “Project Aquatic”, involved 27 police services from across the province, including those in the Greater Toronto Area.

“The abuse and exploitation of children on the internet is a serious issue affecting our communities,” police said in a news release.

At this point the OPP has not released any information about criminal charges stemming from the investigation nor named any suspects.
