Stiles looks to reassure anxious voters
Stiles is attempting to position herself as the most reliable leader for workers and their families as Ontario stares down the barrel of crushing tariffs.
“I know you’re anxious, I’ve been hearing it everywhere I go, for a while now,” Stiles said.
“People are worried tariffs are going to make life even more expensive than it already is in Ontario.”
Stiles said an NDP government would “play on Team Canada,” including a joint income-protection scheme with Ottawa, and “defend each and every single job in this province.”
She also says the provinces need to focus on reducing internal trade barriers.
After a lot of reassuring messages, she turned her attention to Ford.
“Seven years of Doug Ford has left us so vulnerable to the tariffs Trump has coming,” she said. “Do you think you can really trust Doug Ford in this moment?”
