Pedestrian killed in south Ottawa collision

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle’s driver in south Ottawa late Tuesday night.

Ottawa police said it happened near Albion and Rideau roads, south of the Rideau Carleton Raceway, just before midnight.

A man was pronounced dead at the scene, Ottawa paramedics told CBC.

Paramedics said another patient was assessed at the scene but wasn’t taken to hospital.

Police weren’t ready to share the victim’s name Wednesday morning and did not mention any arrests or suspects.

Albion was closed for several hours overnight at the scene about 15 kilometres south of the city core. It reopened around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
