Police investigating homicide in Kingston

Police in Kingston, Ont., say they have opened a homicide investigation after an incident early Sunday morning resulted in the death of one person.  

Officers responded to an apartment building around 2:30 a.m. near Cassidy Street and Montreal Street after receiving reports of an assault that left one person severely injured, according to a Tuesday morning news release from the Kingston Police.

The individual was treated by emergency services on scene and transported to hospital where they later died of their injuries. Police have not released further details about the person’s name, age or gender.

There is no risk to public safety, police say.

An investigation is ongoing and Kingston Police’s major crime unit is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two individuals believed to be related to the homicide.
