Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say there’s no longer a risk to public safety after a home invasion on Wolfe Island near Kingston earlier this week.

OPP’s Leeds detachment received reports about the incident near Marysville shortly after 4 a.m. Thursday. Two people received non-life-threatening injuries in the home invasion, police said.

The suspect wasn’t located after leaving the scene, and police initially warned of a potential risk to public safety.

Ferry service to Wolfe Island was also disrupted during the manhunt.

On Friday, OPP said the home invasion was targeted and there’s no longer a risk to the broader public. Their investigation continues.

People can still expect to see a large police presence on the island, OPP said.
