During a Canada Day performance, a member of the Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team, the Skyhawks, was seriously injured, according to Devon Gorman, the team’s public affairs officer.
The incident happened on Parliament Hill just after 3 p.m. and medical personnel responded immediately.
The skydiver was taken to hospital where his injuries were deemed serious, but non-life-threatening.
Nobody else at the scene was injured.
In an interview, Gorman said the incident happened during the parachute team’s jump during Canada Day celebrations, but he could not provide any additional details
“Safety of the spectators and the team is important to us,” Gorman said. “So we have to do an investigation to determine exactly what led to the incident.”
