A man was killed while working in Thurso Tuesday, according to provincial police.

The Sûreté du Québec told Radio-Canada they were called to a business on rue Galipeau in the small city east of Gatineau around noon.

Police said they believe granite slabs fell on him.

The worker was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said, and a police investigation is underway.

The name of the victim and business have not been released. Radio-Canada has asked Quebec’s CNESST, the province’s employee watchdog, for comment.
