Three people, apparently including two children are in critical condition after they were rescue from an apartment at a high-rise fire in the east end early Thursday.
Firefighters were alerted by a monitoring company reporting alarms, 1244 Donald St., a highrise in the east end.

Firefighters arrived four minutes after dispatch, according to spokesman Nick DeFazio. and they confirmed haze visible in the front of the building and several people on their balconies.

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke on third floor, where the fire was
At encountered the three victims in the hallway at 6:22 a .n.They rescued all three and brought them out.
All were unconscious and firefighters worked with paramedics in an effort to resuscitate them, including on the way to the hospital in ambulance.
A second alarm was called at 6:20 a.m.
DeFazio said there is broken pipe on third floor that, combined with firefighter’s efforts, has caused signifcant water damage from the third floor down.
The whole building has been evacuated, they are determining if they need to shut down power.
People are prepping the Overbrook community centre to bring displaced fire victims them there. Residents sheltered on OC transpo buses for the time being.
The fire was declared under control at 6:54 a.m.
Police asked motorists to avoid the scene.
