Anyone experiencing a medical emergency in the region was instructed to call 9-1-1. Paramedics were to transport patients to the nearest open emergency department, among them the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital, Arnprior Regional Health, Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital and the Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa.

Patients can also speak with a Registered Nurse at Telehealth Ontario by calling toll-free 1-866-797-0000 or TTY 1-866-797-0007. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Almonte is approximately 50 kilometres west of Ottawa.
