What time is the inauguration?

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to begin at noon on January 20, 2025.

Where is the inauguration taking place?

Due to expected freezing temperatures and high winds, the ceremony will be held inside the United States Capitol Rotunda in Washington, DC.

What is the weather like in Washington, DC?

The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for Washington, DC. Temperatures on Monday are expected to reach a high of -2 C during the day, with overnight lows around -11 C. Wind chill could make it feel much colder (-21 C). Scattered flurries are expected before 3 p.m., and winds could reach up to 47 km/h.

Ottawa is no stranger to frigid conditions, but the level of wind chill in Washington, DC, is unusual for the area. Locals in DC may find the weather especially harsh.

Are there protests expected?

The People’s March on Washington took place on January 18, 2025, drawing thousands of participants advocating for women’s rights, abortion rights, immigration reform, and an end to the Israel-Hamas conflict. Hundreds of similar marches were held across the U.S., including at least one in every U.S. state.
