Car driven through Barrhaven home

Ottawa Fire Service’s structural collapse team is on the scene of a Barrhaven home after a car was driven through it.

The fire service said on the social media site X that the vehicle was driven through the wall of a single-family home, “causing the integrity of the structure to become compromised.”

Fire spokesperson Nick DeFazio said the call came in around noon.

As the structural integrity of a building is compromised, the structural collapse team installed supports to the structure so the car could be removed safely with a winch, he said, which happened around 2 p.m.

The people who live in the home won’t be able to return until it’s fully repaired, he said.
