Downed power pole adds to rush hour problems in city’s south end

Drivers in the city’s south end had a strange problem to deal with during the morning rush hour Friday.

“At approximately 8:40 a.m., Ottawa police responded to the intersection of Merivale Road and Meadowlands Drive East for reports of downed power lines,” police said,

“Upon arrival it was learned that a commercial vehicle had caught the lines, bringing them down.

“At this time, OPS, City of Ottawa and Hydro Ottawa crews are on the scene as repairs are underway,” police said.

There was no estimate when the repairs would be concluded.

There were no injuries.
