Driver caught in HOV lane for third time in two years

An Ottawa driver is clearly not getting the message after being arrested for the third time in two years driving alone in a “high occupancy vehicle lane” in the west end.

In addition, all three arrests were by the same Ottawa OPP officer.

In a release, OPP said the pickup truck was stopped during the Friday morning commute driving in the HOV lane, reserved for vehicles carrying two or more passengers.

The driver was alone in the truck, which was clocked at 139 km/h.

The HOV offence calls for a fine of $100 and three demerit points.

The same officer had a busy shift Friday, stopping a driver clocked at 163 km/h on Highway 417.

That driver received a roadside 30-day driving suspension and a 14-day vehicle impound.

They will also face a minimum $2,000 fine, six demerit points, and a one-year driving prohibition upon conviction.
